Greetings,
Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Online Helpline as your source of HIV/AIDS related information.
First and foremost, receiving oral sex is considered neglible risk, which means that there have been no reported cases of HIV transmission this way. Though there are body fluids involved, enzymes in our saliva actually inhibit the already delicate HIV virus.
I would, however, recommend regular testing for sexually transmitted infections as well as HIV to anyone who is sexually active. Using condoms and regular testing is the best way to protect both you and your partner. Perhaps in this situation your girlfriend and yourself may want to get tested together to put both your minds at ease and provide a fresh start.
Lastly, I think it is important to note that Commercial Sex Workers (CSW's) often take more precautions than the average person, as their jobs rely on it. As well, HIV does not discriminate, and can impact anyone, despite their gender, age, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, profession, etc.
I hope this addresses all of your concerns, but please feel free to contact us again with any further questions you may have.
In Health,

Katie
