Hello
Today I`ve touched a dirty(used) wet wipe(babywipe). She was used and left in the car after use. I don`t know if she was indected with any body fluids. I doubt that the person which used her is hiv positive.
I had her in my hands less than 10 min than i threw it in garbege after I remembered I thought by myself that she could be infected with any infectious fluid.
Wet wipe I guess was dry but i don`t know if she was totaly. Today was so hot outside and my hands started to sweat by holding her in my hands so I dont know how to describe the feelings in my hands. I don`t know if I touched my face my mouth, nouse eyes and my forehead.
i think I`ve touched my face and hairs starting from my forehead to my ear close to my hairs to take away my hairs from the face but im not so sure.
The skin of my face was helthy except a small pimple on forehead.
Two and a half hours later almost three when i went home I washed my hands with soap and warm water and my face twice with hair shampoo.
PLEASE help me!
I have a boyfriend which is hiv negative and my family members too, I don`t wan`t to infect them what should I do?
Should I get take careful from now to not infect them.
I`m sorry for my english because is not my first language
PLEASEEE HELP MEEE!

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It seems that you are concerned about acquiring HIV from touching a used wipe. We are glad to provide some information.

HIV does not transmit when it is exposed to air. This would be the case if the wipe you touched had been used to wipe body fluids containing HIV. The wipe would not transmit HIV. Studies have shown that casual contact does not transmit HIV.

HIV not transmitted by any of the following

1. By hugging, shaking hands, sharing toilets, sharing dishes, or closed-mouth or “social” kissing with someone who is HIV-positive.
2. Through saliva, tears, or sweat that is not mixed with the blood of an HIV-positive person.
3. By mosquitoes, ticks or other blood-sucking insects.
4. Through the air.

The Aids Vancouver Helpline Online forum has postings that are related to your question that you can read for additional information. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us again.

Thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.
