Hello there. I had a rapid test more than three months after the exposure and it was negative. The night before the test i had drunk some alcohol. Could the alcohol consumption the night before alter the test result? Sorry for my english.

Hi there,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from your question, you are asking about alcohol consumption altering the results of an HIV rapid test.

Food and drink (including alcohol) do not affect the integrity of HIV tests. Having a recent flu or cold are also additional factors among others that do not affect the results of HIV tests.
