Hello,

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from your question, you are asking about the conclusiveness of an ELISA test and/or a 4th Generation EIA.

The ELISA is a 3rd generation test that tests blood for antibodies. Most people develop detectable antibodies within 21-25 days post exposure, so a test taken at 6 weeks would be considered accurate.

The 4th Generation EIA test is a screening test, also using a blood sample, that looks for antibodies AND antigens. Most HIV specialists consider the 4th Generation EIA test conclusive at 6 weeks.

Irregardless of the test taken, official HIV testing guidelines do recommend a final test at 12 weeks, so we would recommend speaking to your physician about what is best for you and your circumstances.

Thank you, and have a good day!
