I have anal a month before with my friend. He tends to insert his penis in my anal but never inserted. He only rubbed his penis on my opening of anal. Is there any chance of getting infected of HIV

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It seems you are concerned about acquiring HIV from an anal sex encounter. We are glad to provide some information.

Unprotected anal sex is considered a High Risk activity because it has been repeatedly shown that this activity is associated with HIV infection. You stated that he did not insert his penis into your anus therefore this would be regarded as receiving oral sex activity which is considered a Negligible Risk. This means that although there is an exchange of body fluids there has never been a confirmed report of HIV transmission this way. We do not recommend testing for the activity you described but encourage people to get tested for HIV once or twice a year. This will give you peace of mind.

The Aids Vancouver Helpline Online forum has postings that are related to your question that you can read for additional information. If you have any further questions feel free to contact us again.
