Hi there and thank you for contacting us at AIDS Vancouver, we are happy to help!

It sounds like you are very concerned about having being exposed to HIV after receiving protected oral sex.

Receiving oral sex is actually a NEGLIGIBLE RISK , which means that there has NEVER been a confirmed report of HIV transmission through this activity. You also stated that it was protected oral sex, which means that there was no exchange of body fluids, therefore there could not be a risk for HIV transmission.

As for the symptoms that you mentioned, we do not focus on symptoms here at AIDS Vancouver, because symptoms often mirror other viral infections (eg. flu, etc.). I would recommend that you speak to your health care professional about the symptoms that you are experiencing, in order to get more information.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our helpline!

Sincerely,

Raveena
