hello, had a protected experience but before wearing a condom she grabbed my penis and rubbed the tip of my penis on her clitoris...she was extremely wet. I could feel the moisture eventhough i was not inside her. Is it possible to get hiv in this manner? It seems like there is possible fluid exchange since my tip opening was touching her body fluids

Hi there! thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver helpline with your HIV related questions/concerns. We're happy to help!

I understand that this is a stressful thing to be thinking about but I hope that my answer can help to provide some relief!

So genital rubbing without penetration is considered frottage, and that is a negligible risk for HIV transmission. What that means is that although you could technically make a case for HIV being transmitted this way, there hasn't been a single reported case of transmission in this manner. The reason is that HIV cannot survive exposure to the outside environment, and so any bodily fluids on the surface of her genitals are first exposed to the environment and therefore don't present a risk of transmission.

Additionally, great job on using a condom to protect yourself! That's the best way to protect yourself against HIV and other STI's

I hope this helped! Additionally, this website http://www.avert.org/hiv-transmission-prevention/myths has great information about transmission.

Sincerely,

Christina
