My question is I did a test at a clinic for an executive screen test. And in the list of the test got hiv1 and HIV 2 Elisa test and some other test. After 2 days the result came from the lab and my result was negative after my last sexual encounter that was 6 months ago. So it reliable and conclusive? I just want a piece of mind. And after the 4 month mark I did a rapid test and it came out negative also.
Thank you for your reply. It is much appreciated

Hello and thanks for choosing the Helpline. An HIV test is conclusive at just 12 weeks or 84 days, post risk exposure.
The test you had at 4 months was conclusive meaning that the additional test at 6 months tells us the same information. You are most certainly HIV negative. The rapid test is just as reliable as an ELISA test and both are used throughout the world.
Based on the information you have provided no further testing is required if you have had no other risk exposure.
We at the Helpline always recommend that all sexually active persons regularly test for all sexually transmitted infections, including HIV. Please do not hesitate to contact as at any time should you have any other questions or concerns.
Yours most respectfully,
David
