Sir,
from 2 days I was drinking unlimited alcohol and the 3rd day I had sex with a prostitute which was well protected using a condom. She even gave me a blowjob when condom was on. I gave her a blowjob but as that was my first time I didn't gave more than 30-40 sec and from next day i had sore tongue, although effect has reduced a lot but I am still worrying if this is because of drinking or sex? please suggest something.

Hi there, and thanks a lot for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline with your HIV/AIDS related health information. You seem concerned about the possibility of HIV transmitting through giving oral sex, and about some symptoms you're experiencing. We're happy to answer your questions for you.

First off, giving oral sex (even to a female) is classified as low risk. Low risk means that while theoretically transmission is possible, it requires very specific circumstances to occur. What we can't really comment on is your tongue symptoms. The symptoms of an HIV infection mimic the symptoms of many other conditions, so the only way to know conclusively if transmission has occurred is to go for a test. This isn't to suggest your tongue symptoms are related to an HIV infection whatsoever.

Considering this, have you ever gone for an HIV test? We always suggest routine HIV testing for all sexually individuals. So if you haven't gone for a test recently, we'd suggest you do so.

Thanks a lot for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline with your question. We hope we've answered it fully.

Trevor
