I just bough swim trunks for swim meet from two of my friends. And I just tried them on for less than 5 minutes. Can I get HIV that way? I'm worried for two months already.

Hello and thanks for reaching out to the AIDS Vancouver Helpline.

It seems you are concerned about having HIV after engaging in a no risk activity. We are glad to provide you with some information.

The activity you engaged in is no risk activity. For there to be a risk of HIV acquisition you must be in direct contact with bodily fluids that have access to your blood stream. In this particular situation, there was no avenue for the bodily fluid within a closed environment to enter you body. Even if there was bodily fluid present on the speedo, the fluid would have been exposed to oxygen which renders the virus unable to transmit. Below I have pasted the a link to view our risk assessment chart.

To reiterate you are not at risk for HIV acquisition from possible bodily fluid contact on a speedo.

I hope that you do not have to be worried about this particular incident anymore.
