I know this is a helpline for hiv/aids but I was wondering what other stds I should get tested for? I had a negative hiv test at 3 months but still have weird symptoms happening to my body, so I'm thinking maybe I have a different std and I should get tested for them. Whats the window period for each of them? And would I be experiencing any extreme symptoms from any stds after almost 5 months of possible exposure? Thanks for any info provided

Hi there and thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline forum.

It sounds like you're worried about STI's and HIV after a possible exposure.

AIDS Vancouver is an organization that focuses on HIV/AIDS issues, so I do not have a lot of detailed information about STI's. I can tell you that HIV tests are considered to be conclusive at 3 months following exposure, so the test you got at 3 months can be considered to be conclusive.

If you are experiencing symptoms that you believe could be caused by an STI I would recommend to partner with your doctor in getting tested for STI's and figuring out the cause of your symptoms. Some individuals refer to this as a "full panel STI test".

For more specific information on STI's I would definitely encourage you to check out [www.smartsexresource.com](www.smartsexresource.com), they will have more information than I am able to give. And for more information on HIV you can always visit the AIDS Vancouver website.

I hope this information helps to answer your questions and that you are able to figure out the cause of the symptoms you've been experiencing.

Sincerely,

Isla (Volunteer)
