Hi there, and thanks a lot for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for your HIV/AIDS related health information. It seems you're concerned about the possibility of HIV transmitting during an encounter. We're happy to answer that question for you.

This is a no risk situation. To get a better idea of what is required for transmission to occur, check out our transmission equation:

HIV TRANSMISSION EQUATION

BODY FLUID
+
ACTIVITY
+
DIRECT ACCESS TO BLOODSTREAM
---------- -------- ----------------------------
• blood (including menstrual) • unprotected anal or vaginal intercourse • vagina
• semen • sharing needles • anus
• pre-cum • mother to child (in specific cases) • urethra in the penis
• rectal secretions • open cuts and sores (in theory)
• vaginal fluids • other mucosal membranes
• breast milk • points of needle injection
You'll see in the chart that required for transmission are a fluid known to be involved in transfer, an activity known to be involved in transfer, and direct access to the bloodstream. The activities you describe (rubbing your penis on her body, and her sucking you genitals- even if they had some kind of infection) are not activities known to be involved in transfer, nor do they provide direct access to the bloodstream. For these reasons, this situation is no risk. We would, however, recommend you see a healthcare provider to get the infection you're currently experiencing assessed.

Thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline with your question. We hope it was answered fully.
