Hello and Thank You all for what you do!
I had a possible exposure 1 year ago (unprotected vaginal sex with a women of unknown status).

I did a 4th generation antibody and a PCR test. Both came back negative. But I am also taking a natural testosterone booster linked here : https://www.onnit.com/t-plus/

Is there anyway that supplement could have affected both/either the Antibody and/or PCR test?

Thank you

Hi there! Thanks for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline with your HIV related questions and concerns. We are happy to help!

There are only 4 things that can affect your HIV test result and that is NOT one of them, so your test is considered accurate!!

For reference, they are:

1) being on treatment for hepatitis C

2) Being on treatment for cancer (chemotherapy)

3) being on PEP/PREP treatment for HIV

4) having an immunodeficiency disease (you would know they are diagnosed at birth)

In these situations, instead of tests being considered conclusive at 3 months, they are then considered conclusive at 6 months.

Hope this helped!

Sincerely,

Christina
