I had unprotected sex with a male I am female and my last exposure was in February 28 I got tested in October 9 at a free std clinic with a duo rapid test negative and then on October 31 I got tested on a 4th generation lab test blood drawn from vein negative I also was tested for all stds/STIs as well all negative I am so worried and have so much anxiety behind this situation because I later found out this guy is married so I wanted to know if could rule out hiv and is there anyway I could have it I feel so horrible and can’t stop thinking about it I just hate feeling like this please help me

Thank you for your inquiry. From what we gather from the question, you were asking about the conclusiveness of a fourth generation HIV test at 8 months.

The window period for a fourth generation test is up to 6 weeks (1). If you haven't had another possible exposure within the window period, a negative fourth generation HIV test is considered conclusive after 12 weeks (2). With your two negative tests both well after 12 weeks you can be completely confident that your test results are accurate.

Recommendation: No need for an HIV test with the scenario provided, refer to a healthcare professional for other health related questions.
