Hi,

I just had a urine test done to check for any STI. The test came back negative, but I do remember that before I capped the urine sample, I accidentally spilled a slight amount. Would this make my urine analysis invalid?

Thanks in advance!

Hi There,
Thank you for using the AIDS Vancouver Helpline as your source for HIV/AIDS related information.
Spilling a small amount of urine should not compromise the validity of your STI test. Though you may want to talk to your medical care giver to ensure that you were outside the window period for any STIs that you being tested for.
Please let us know if we can provide any more information.  Or if you would like to call and speak to someone at the Helpline, you can do so anonymously and confidentially by calling 640.696.4666, Monday to Friday between 9am-4pm.
Cheers,
