Hello
I would like to thank you all for taking time and helping people.
The fact is that I have proposed a girl to marry me, she has agreed, We have never had sex before and although she insisted to have unprotected sex I asked her to wait till we are officially engaged.
NO i am concerned that she might be HIV positive as she stated about working sometime as a stripper and also having a not very pleasant past. When I asked her to get a blood test before everything she gladly accepted.
But I really don't know if there is a conclusive test that would make everything clear because as far as I have researched over the internet the tests must go on in follow ups.
Please kindly help me with this.
Thank You

Hi there, thank you for contacting the AIDS Vancouver Helpline for HIV and AIDS related information.

To answer your question, all HIV tests administered by a health care professional are considered to be absolutely conclusive at 3 months post exposure. If the test is administered 3 months after an exposure there is no need for a follow up test to be done. There are a few tests which have the ability to detect the HIV virus with accuracy earlier than others, such as the PCR RNA and DNA tests and the 4th Generation Duo test, however once again all tests are only considered absolutely conclusive at 3 months post exposure.

I hope this makes sense to you and answers your question. If you have any further questions please feel free to contact us again or visit [www.avert.org](www.avert.org) for additional reliable HIV related information.

In health,

Arne, AIDS Vancouver Helpline Volunteer
