Hi,
I've had negative tests at 70 days, 78 days, 85 days, 92 days. Tests were taken in different labs. One of them was ELISA test. Results were provided after an hour. And they all took blood sample from my arm.
Some say it can take up to six months of time to turn HIV positive. I'm a healthy guy, I rarely get sick. And never had PEP or anything not normal. Am I HIV negative?
Which generation HIV tests are used in India? How accurate are they?

Hello and thank you for choosing the Helpline. Having had 4 HIV negative tests from 70 to 92 days, tells us here at the Helpline that you are indeed HIV negative. An HIV negative test in now conclusive at 12 weeks post risk exposure.
I have tried to find out about the ELISA test in India, and do believe that the standard is the 3rd Generation test. This is the most common test used worldwide today.
Older guidelines in some countries do still indicate a test result may take up to 6 months, however we at the Helpline follow International Guidelines that indicate an HIV test is conclusive in just 3 months. This is because testing is now more accurate than ever before.
Since you have never taken P.E.P. and have no other health issues, you are not required to have any further HIV testing done. You are HIV negative.
All the best to you and sincere regards,
David
